Adoption Offers Hope

by Chad Hunsberger on April 07, 2022

In a matter of hours, Gloria and I will begin our lengthy journey to India to bring our son, Zeke, home. This journey will include eight different flights, multiple car rides, three hotels, a variety of new foods, multiple appointments, financial payments, and too many hours to count. With all that, we believe this journey is still worth it!

We do not know all of Zeke’s story–what brought him to the life of an orphan or how he arrived at this orphanage. We do not know about his birth parents or if he has any biological siblings. However, we do know that the story of an orphan is always tragic and it is heart-wrenching for us to think of a child without a family and a home.

This is why adoption offers hope. Bringing Zeke into our home and family is not simply about offering a roof over his head, food on his plate, and friends to play with. Adopting Zeke is about offering him a greater hope. Jesus Christ is the greatest hope we have to offer.

We are praying, through the upcoming journey and the years that follow, Zeke will see a display of the gospel in our home and come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We are praying this adoption will ultimately lead to his eternal adoption into the family of God.

It is in this eternal adoption that the guaranteed hope of salvation is given. This same hope is offered to all who turn away from their sin and trust in Jesus. May we see this offer of hope as the glorious gift it is and rejoice!

Be Joyful,
Chad Hunsberger
