Dear God
Your greatest gift of grace was found in salvation. But your second greatest gift to me was that of my marriage bond. Thank you for bestowing such a gift to me in my wife. She is to be treasured and you have displayed unmeasurable kindness in our lifelong covenant relationship.
Help me, O God, love her as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. Give me the strength to sacrifice my desires for hers as I also seek to wash her with your Word.
May she always know that her first priority is you and that her identity is found in Christ. May she feel as beautiful as the image bearer that she is. As such, give her quiet confidence knowing that she has all she needs because of who you are in her.
On long days, give her rest. Support her and sustain her in her work outside the home and within. May she be respected at the city gate and among the church community.
Help me recall that I need to be a good listener, not a fixer. Help me remember that you are indeed her steady anchor. As I seek to protect her from harm May she always know that you are her forever strong tower and her fortress in times of trouble.
When she is weary lift her head. When she is wanting fill her cup to overflowing. When she is strong may she boast in you. When she is grieving catch her tears.
Help her carry the cross of Christ with dignity and honor as she displays the gospel through our marriage. May she show love for me as her husband that helps others see a reflection of the gospel in her life. Help her make Christ known in word and deed.
Draw her to yourself dear God and clothe her with your righteousness.
Thank you, Lord, for hearing my prayer and answering according to your will.
