We believe that God wants us to invest in others according to what He has given to us. In fact, we believe that is really the only way for us to live a truly abundant life. Investing in God’s work in others involves giving or sharing all resources God has given us. Things like our time, our talent, and our treasure. This page is dedicated to helping you find ways to use your time and your talent to serve God in and through Colonial Heights.

We know a few things about time. It’s finite. There’s only so much of it...and we all have the same amount in a given day. The question is how are we going to spend that time. As followers of Christ, we want to use the time that God has given us to make a difference in someone’s life and to bring glory to God.

Here at Colonial Heights, we want to help you use your time more wisely for Loving God, Loving people, and Making Disciples.

That’s where the talents come in. We want to help you maximize your time by using your God-given talents effectively. Then, giving and serving really becomes fun! God has made each of us special and uniquely gifted us to serve Him and others. Our job is to be a good student of the Bible and of ourselves; identify our gifts, talents, and passions; and then use them to serve God and others.

Evaluation of these aspects of your life can give you direction as to where God may have gifted you to serve. We call this your S.H.A.P.E.

Identifying your gifts, talents, and passions is a great first step. But, it’s an incomplete process if you don’t go on to the next step. You eventually have to give it a try. You need to begin using what God has given to you.

At Colonial Heights, we want to encourage people with opportunities to serve. Don’t worry about starting something and it not working out. Sometimes the process of finding your place(s) of service is just trial-and-error. But, we’ll maintain an open dialogue with you so that you can have the greatest success...or give something else a try.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.
