Family Devotion Time

Deuteronomy 6:7 - You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.

Family Devotion time is a great beginning to discipleship in the home. Devotion Time is specifically a time set aside from the busyness of life to focus the attention of your family on the things of God. With today’s busy schedules, when do you find the time? This is a question of priority. This is so important that time must be taken, not a lot of time is needed to make a spiritual investment in your preschooler (10-15 minutes).

Elements of Family Devotion:
Bible Reading – Read from the Jesus Storybook Bible pick one story a week.
Prayer – Pray as a family.
Catechism/Foundations – Teach your children what to believe and why to believe it.
Scripture Memory – “writing God’s Word on your child’s heart”
Worship – Sing Songs of Worship together as a family.

Tips to help you get started:
Pick the best time for your family to do this, breakfast, dinner, bedtime?
Be patient.
Allow for creativity and fun!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.
